Frequently Asked Questions
Everything festival and fair vendors ask about QR ordering, queue-busting mobile checkout, and POS integration at outdoor food events on GoldLane.
- Where do upcoming events on /events come from?
- Vendor-created events with live menus appear under Order now. Public discovery uses Ticketmaster Discovery — an official API that searches festivals and fairs by location and date. Eventbrite does not offer a public browse API (their location search was removed in 2019); GoldLane only shows Eventbrite events when mirroring a specific partner organization. Logged-in vendors can claim discovered events to attach a menu and enable QR ordering.
- Do festival guests need to download an app?
- No. Guests scan your QR code or open your order link in any phone browser: mobile web menu, cart, and checkout. No app store download. GoldLane's Flutter mobile app is for vendor truck-side ops only, not guest ordering.
- Is there a GoldLane mobile app for vendors?
- Vendors run events from the GoldLane web dashboard today. The GoldLane Vendor mobile app is for live orders and event management at the truck, not for customers. Guests always order via your QR or link in their browser.
- Can I connect Square or Clover at an event?
- Yes. GoldLane uses the same Square Developer application as BistroAI. Vendors connect Square in Settings (OAuth) or use the shared platform SQUARE_ACCESS_TOKEN when configured on the server. Set an event's payment flow to Square POS to charge cards via Square Web Payments at checkout.
- How does item capacity work for limited plates?
- Set a maximum number of servings per menu item for each festival, fair, or rally. When brisket, tacos, or fair food sells out, items are marked unavailable in real time.
- Who is GoldLane built for?
- GoldLane is a Liberty IT Technologies product built for food event vendors: food truck rallies, county fairs, festival stalls, outdoor markets, and pop-up food courts.
- What types of vendors can use the platform?
- Food trucks, trailers, pop-up stalls, concession stands, and catering vendors at food truck rallies, farmers markets, county fairs, and private outdoor events.
- How do customers pay at the truck window?
- Festival-goers pay on their phone at checkout. Square POS events use the Square Web Payments form (same credentials as BistroAI). Platform events use Stripe Checkout when configured, or demo mode for testing. Clover checkout is planned.
- What fees does the platform charge?
- Starter is free to set up with no platform fee at settlement. Pro applies a 2.5% platform fee on gross event revenue when you close and settle, plus standard payment processor fees. See the pricing section on the homepage.
- Can I upload my own menu photos?
- Yes — add a photo URL when creating each menu item in the event manager. Direct file upload is planned; URL links work today for hosted images.
- How do I share my ordering link at a food truck rally?
- Each published event gets a customer order link (e.g. goldlane.us/e/your-event) and a printable QR code. Share the link in texts or social posts, or tape the QR to your truck window so guests scan and order in their browser.
- What happens if I don't have a POS at the festival?
- No POS required. Orders appear on a live dashboard that auto-refreshes every few seconds so your crew can prep at the pass and mark orders complete from any device.
- Can I run multiple events at once?
- Yes. Create separate events for different venues, dates, or menus. Each event has its own QR code, capacity settings, and order stream.
- How do end-of-event settlements work?
- When you close a live event, gross revenue is calculated from qualifying orders. Starter plans have no platform fee; Pro applies 2.5%. Net payout is recorded in your settlement history. Stripe Connect automated payouts are planned for production.
- Is customer data secure?
- We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Payment card details are handled by PCI-compliant processors (Stripe); we never store full card numbers on our servers.
- What if a customer needs a refund?
- Vendors can cancel an order from the live order board, which restores menu capacity. Card refunds through Stripe or POS processors will follow when those integrations are fully live.
- Do you offer a demo before signing up?
- Yes. Browse live events or visit the demo food festival from the homepage to experience ordering at an event, or create a free vendor account to set up a test rally in minutes.
- Can guests track order status?
- Yes. After checkout, guests land on an order status page that refreshes automatically. They can also return to the same link to see when an order is preparing, ready, or complete.
